Physical fitness has been called the one essential ingredient of a healthy lifestyle. It helps reduce the risks of many diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular illnesses, cancer, osteoporosis, stroke, high blood pressure, weight problems and premature death. Physical fitness can be defined as a condition of well being and health and, more importantly, the capacity to carry out basic parts of daily tasks, including respiration and movement. Physical fitness, in the widest sense, is usually achieved through adequate resting, proper nutrition and light-weight physical activity. In order to keep fit, a person should perform an appropriate amount of exercises at least three times every week.

There are different levels of physical fitness. Exercise can be a low intensity activity such as walking, jogging or cycling; or it can involve a higher intensity form of activity such as weightlifting, swimming or tennis. The type of activity, as well as the intensity of the exercise, determine the benefits and long term effects on the body. Fitness activities that produce short term but significant improvements in fitness include aerobic exercise; strength training; swimming; and yoga. Activities that promote or improve long term fitness include dancing, gardening and swimming.

Adolescent fitness levels vary widely. While some adolescents enjoy various forms of aerobic and/or strength training, others may only have interest in weight training or weight lifting. Because of their physical activity, some adolescents may be at higher risk of developing serious health problems, such as osteoporosis. Adolescent physical activity also tends to involve the use of potentially unsafe substances, such as steroids.

A lot of research has been conducted in recent years to discover how to keep active and fit without any injuries. With the increase in levels of stress in society, it has become necessary for people to be more physically fit to cope with the daily demands of work and family responsibilities. The good news is that most people do not need to put in too much effort to get their desired weight and physical fitness level. Adolescent girls and boys, as well as adults, can all get fit easily if they stick to some simple, but effective fitness tips. For those teens who want to stay active, they should try to do some sports and other forms of physical activity as often as possible.

When it comes to teenagers, it is important to realize that only a few minutes of physical activity every day can keep them in good physical shape. In fact, the amount of time spent exercising greatly depends on the person. The best thing for everyone to do is to make sure that they take the time to exercise when they are in the mood. It is important to keep in mind that children need more exercise than adults do because they cannot usually judge the level of physical activity they need. Parents and teachers should also encourage the kids to do physical activity so that they will also learn how to stay active and healthy.

Another type of fitness for teens is interval training. Interval training involves short bursts of high intensity exercises followed by a comfortable pace. By doing interval training, one can improve cardiovascular fitness, strengthen muscles, burn more calories and improve the immune system. The good thing about interval training is that you can continue it as long as you like without feeling bored or exhausted. It is important to choose a program that is appropriate for your age; this way, you can effectively increase your fitness level without affecting your lifestyle.
